KARACHI: Goods transporters decided to go ahead with their strike until all of their demands are accepted, though the most of their demands have already been taken up at a meeting with Governor Sindh Dr Ishrat Ul Ebad Khan in chair.

Commissioner Karachi has been assigned a role of focal person for the resolution of problems.

The sources said the Chairman Federal Board of Revenue (FBR) assured to scale down tax ratio from five to two percent in a meeting at Governor House.

The transoprters have also been given assurances that security check posts will be set up on Northern Bypass on complaints of mugging incidents.

Talking to media after the talks, Joint Secretary United Goods Transport Alliance Imdad Naqvi expressed satisfaction over the meeting with the governor, saying the issue of FBR tax has been resolved and hoped that all other matters also would be tackled.

He furthermore added that the strike will continue until all demands are accepted. He said the negotiations will be held again today at Governor House
