Mobile service restored in several cities

LAHORE – Mobile phone service has been restored in several cities.
Earlier, the government had decided to suspend cellular service suspended in several cities on 9th and 10th Muharram to avert any untoward incident.
According to reports, the security agencies had informed the federal interior ministry that there was a potential threat that terrorists could target Ashura processions on 9th and 10th Muharram.
On November 12, the Sindh and Balochistan governments had requested the federal interior ministry to suspend mobile phone services for two days.
The government banned pillion riding during the next two days besides jamming mobile phone services to foil nefarious designs of the anti-state elements and terrorists.
Meanwhile, the law enforcing agencies have been put on high alert to deal with any eventuality.
