RAWALPINDI - Rawalpindi district administration has re-imposed curfew in Rawalpindi from 1:00am Sunday to 12:00midnight.
Earlier, the authorities announced three-and-a-half-hour relaxation in curfew from 09:30pm on Saturday to 01:00am on Sunday to allow residents to buy eatables and other household items.
The curfew was enforced in Rawalpindi for 24 hours on Friday midnight in Potohar Town, Rawal Town and Cantonment areas after clashes between two groups left nine people dead.
A press not issued by DCO office said that nine people died and 50 others sustained injuries in sectarian violence on Friday during which a ‘Madrisa’ and a cloth market were also torched.
Meanwhile, Rawalpindi district administration has claimed that law and order situation in the city is under control.
On the other hand, mobile phone service in Rawalpindi has been closed for an indefinite period. Mobile phone service in Islamabad has also been suspended which will reopen at 02:00pm today.
