KARACHI: Following Federal Minister for Ports and Shipping, Senator Kamran Michael had failed to bring the goods transporters round to end their strike, President Mamnoon Hussain directed Federal Finance Minister Ishaq Dar to expeditiously resolve today all the problems being faced by the transporters.

It should be mentioned here that exports and imports have been pegged at standstill for ten days now owing to the strike by goods transporters with no room left at the overpacked seaports for more containers. But, the transporters are outright unwilling to cease their strike.

The federal ports and shipping minister caved in to all demands of the transporters. However, the transporters asserted that strike will continue till the government issues a notification for the purpose.

Karachi Chamber of Commerce and Industry (KCCI), Abdullah Zaki headed a five-member delegation in a meeting with President Hussain urging him to defuse the standoff.

President, immediately taking notice, tasked federal minister to bring to a close the strike by the goods transporters by accommodating their demands at the earliest
