ISLAMABAD: The lower house of the parliament discarded a bill seeking constitutional amendment for increasing the retirement age of the Chief Justice of Pakistan (CJP), ARY News reported on Tuesday.

The constitutional bill was initiated by Jamshed Dasti MNA in National Assembly, could not be tabled due to lack of required numbers of the members and opposed by the treasury benches and others.

Jamshed Dasti, an independent in the lower house, seeking increasing the retirement age of the Chief Justice from existing 65 years to 68 years.

The bill was rejected prior to being tabled by the lawmaker in the house by majority vote.
